Get-Together between Deputy Public Prosecutors of the Criminal Justice Division and Officers from the Criminal Investigations Department, Royal Brunei Police Force

          The Royal Brunei Police Force and the Criminal Justice Division of the Attorney General's Chambers have successfully organized a get-together event between Deputy Public Prosecutors and Officers of the Criminal Investigations Department in the interest of promoting greater camaraderie and cooperation between the two offices. The event was held at the Officer's Mess at the Police Headquarters in Gadong and was also attended by Officers in charge of the various police districts, district crime officers as well as district traffic officers.

          In his opening remarks, Haji Abdullah Soefri Bin POKSM DSP Hj Abidin, the Acting Assistant Solicitor General thanked the ACP Pg Hj Mohd Jefri Bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Hamid, the Director of the Criminal Investigations Department of the Royal Brunei Police Force for hosting the event, which only serves to increase networking and cooperation between the Attorney General's Chambers and the Royal Brunei Police Force with the main aim of upholding the Criminal Justice System of Brunei Darussalam. The Acting Assistant Solicitor General welcomed recent initiatives by the Royal Brunei Police Force to improve investigations and also stated that greater collaboration and cooperation was required by both agencies to address current and emerging forms of crime such as cybercrime, complex financial crimes and trafficking in persons. Further to this, he stressed the need for officers and experts from the Royal Brunei Police Force to provide their much valuable input concerning a number of laws that the Attorney General's Chambers is currently amending, aimed to further protect Brunei Darussalam from criminal activity.

          The networking event saw officers exchange views concerning various issues that are of importance for both offices surrounding matters of prosecution and investigation and opened discussion for several new initiatives to be undertaken in the coming year ahead. The event marks a strong and cohesive effort by both the Attorney General's Chambers and the Royal Brunei Police Force to overcome challenges surrounding the criminal justice system in Brunei Darussalam and to adopt best practices and solutions in order to overcome these issues collectively and efficiently.
